Cellulite Facts
Over 90% of all women over the age of 20 have cellulite. In addition, a large percentage of
the male population is also plagued by cellulite. The most common culprits are weight gain,
hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, and aging. These factors directly affect the
subcutaneous fat layer which contains several bands of connective tissue surrounding groups
of fat cells. As the body ages, these structural bands become tight and rigid, and these fat
cells become enlarged and trapped. Blood circulation also decreases with age and fluids can
accumulate in the tissues causing unwanted swelling.
In women, this trapped fat tends to dimple in certain areas (usually the buttocks and thighs)
